Lynne Oldfield

Headmistress, Haileybury Almaty
Lynne is a graduate of the University of London. She has a long career in education, holding senior leadership positions, including headships in the UK and China. Her previous position was at Harrow International School Beijing: a successful and oversubscribed school for pupils from pre-nursery to Year 13 who go on to achieve places at the world class universities.

In 2009, the National College of Teaching and Leadership appointed Lynne as an Educational Management Consultant advising the Rwandan Ministry of Education and school headteachers and administrators, which began her deep interest and commitment to international education.

Working within the education industry for the past twenty years, in highly academic and successful state and independent schools, John Coles has always strived to ensure the provision of teaching excellence within the curriculum and non-curriculum aspects of school life.

During his career he has gained a wide experience of senior leadership and for his contribution to raising standards in learning he was invited by the London Institute of Education and HMC, a professional association of the world's leading independent schools, to be a key developer and educational trainer in their Independent Schools Qualification in Academic Management. He has continually worked to develop pupils who are resilient, resourceful, achieve the highest academic levels but above all are prepared for the challenges of life beyond school.

Apart from his passion for the more traditional aspects of teaching, he also has a keen interest in the use of technology to promote learning. A key speaker at several major educational conferences he has spoken on a wide range of topics about the use and implication of the technology within schools.

Mr. Aston studied Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire before completing his PGCE teaching qualification at the University of Wales, Swansea. Mr. Aston has over 15 years experience gained in both UK Primary schools and in international schools. His career in education has seen him fulfill teaching positions across the entire Primary school age range before moving into leadership, he has most recently completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship.
Mr. Aston is passionate about growth and development and seeks to create an environment where all pupils and indeed all staff can flourish and learn. He is extremely proud to work at Haileybury Almaty and to be part of its exciting quest for continuous improvement.
Beyond school, Mr. Aston enjoys an active lifestyle and has participated in many triathlons and marathons.

Svetlana Kim, Bursar

Svetlana Kim

Svetlana graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management (Narxoz University) with a degree in Finance and Accounting. She has over 20 years’ of experience in different international and joint-stock companies in the sphere of financial management. Svetlana has been working at Haileybury Almaty for 10 years – since January 2008 and holds the position of Bursar. Her duties include operational management for the finances, property and aspects of the administration of the School, as well as ensuring good school environment and customer service. Svetlana has EICPA certificate, IPAR qualification (Institute of professional accountants of Russia), CAP. Currently she is completing her master’s dissertation at Anglia Ruskin University. She has successfully obtained International Education UK agent Certificates from the British Council (CPD), AoFAQ Award in Pediatric First Aid (QCF), Advanced Safeguarding and Child Protection, Independent Agency of Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) as for the quality assurance in the educational system of Kazakhstan. With her input, the School successfully passed international Institutional Accreditation and ISI.
