This week, we proudly commenced a new academic year with our traditional Knowledge Day celebration.
The event was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests from Haileybury UK, including the Chairman of the Haileybury UK Board, Mr Martin Rayfield, alongside Governors from Haileybury Almaty and Haileybury Astana, Mr Mark Smith and Mr Paul Hunt.
Our strong connection with our British counterpart is something we hold dear, and it was a pleasure to welcome them to experience how Knowledge Day is celebrated in our schools in Almaty and Astana.
Knowledge Day is a momentous occasion for us, providing an excellent opportunity to reflect on the remarkable achievements we have accomplished over the past 15 years.
We are the biggest. Why is this important? Because being the largest school in the region allows us to offer the widest range of opportunities for our students, both inside and outside the classroom. This is crucial for securing places at the world’s top universities.
We are better. Over 15 years of continuous development and improvement have led to world-class A-Level results that surpass the vast majority of top schools in the UK and are unrivalled in the region.
And what does best look like? Fifteen years of dedication have enabled us to create an environment of excellence. We have attracted the very best staff and teachers to Haileybury, where they can thrive and, in turn, provide your children with the very best opportunities to excel.
One of our proudest milestones is the high academic performance of our students. This year, 60% of our A-Level grades were A* or A, and 80% of the grades were A*, A, or B, placing our school on par with the best schools in the United Kingdom. Haileybury Almaty graduates consistently secure places at prestigious universities such as Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge, Stanford, Yale, Columbia, Caltech, Imperial, UCL, Cornell, and UCLA. This year, the total amount of scholarships awarded to our graduates exceeded $4.5 million, underscoring the quality of our preparation programs and the dedication of our students.
At Haileybury Almaty, we also take pride in supporting the Kazakh language and culture. We have seen significant progress in this area, with a 20% increase in Kazakh language exam results in Year 11. Our commitment to continuous improvement is reflected in our ongoing investment in school infrastructure, including the renovation of classrooms, upgrading furniture, and acquiring new buses, some of which are electric, contributing to the school's sustainability efforts.
Our extensive range of extracurricular activities allows students to develop not only academically but also personally. This year, our Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme offers over 150 different activities, and our summer science camp attracted more than 100 students. We continue to expand this area, with plans for new weekend and holiday courses.
The school is also proud of its students' achievements on the international stage. This year, Miron from Year 13 won a silver medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad in the UK, and Danial earned a bronze medal at the Almaty Physics Fights. Our physics team, Hyperluminal, ranked in the top 5% at the CERN Physics Competition, competing against 460 teams from around the world.
As we embark on this new academic year, Haileybury Almaty remains committed to setting ambitious goals and achieving them. We take pride in our graduates and the significant role the school plays in their success. At Haileybury Almaty, every student can confidently strive for admission to the world’s top universities, knowing they will receive all the support they need to achieve their goals.
We look forward to a new year full of opportunities and achievements and are ready to reach new heights together with our students and their parents. Haileybury Almaty is a school where each student's potential is unlocked, and we eagerly anticipate the new successes and accomplishments that lie ahead.
