Aishat’s is the First Haileybury Almaty Student Admitted to Caltech

We are thrilled to announce that Aishat has achieved an extraordinary milestone by receiving an offer from the prestigious California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

This makes her the first student from Haileybury Almaty to be admitted to Caltech, a testament to her hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent.

Caltech is renowned globally for its rigorous academic environment and cutting-edge research. Ranked 15th globally and 9th in Engineering and Technology, Caltech admitted only 315 students from a pool of 13,000 applicants for the Class of 2028, reflecting a highly competitive acceptance rate of just 2.5%.

  • Nobel Laureates: To date, 46 Caltech alumni, faculty, and postdocs, including distinguished scientists like Richard Feynman, have won a total of 47 Nobel Prizes across categories such as Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Peace, and Economic Sciences.

Aishat’s journey to Caltech was paved with numerous impressive extracurricular achievements:

  • Innovative App Development: She programmed and designed a mobile application that assesses the eco-friendliness, vegan, and cruelty-free statuses of cosmetic and skincare products by scanning barcodes. The app also includes a powerful search engine that offers information on the environmental practices of cosmetic companies.
  • Research Endeavors: Aishat wrote a comprehensive research paper with a Mechanical Engineering professor from Carnegie Mellon University on preventing lithium dendrite growth and enhancing the mechanical stability of hybrid electrolyte and solid-state batteries.
  • Engineering Projects: She engineered a nano-satellite aimed at measuring PM2.5 particles in the air, competed in hackathons hosted by Samsung, and took part in business incubators.
  • Olympiad Competitions: She competed in Physics and Mathematics Olympiads, showcasing her analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Debate and Leadership: Aishat participated in debates for four consecutive years and served in the Student Government as Deputy House Captain in 2022-2023 and House Captain in 2023-2024.
  • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award: She completed this prestigious program, highlighting her commitment to personal development and community service.
