Unlocking Innovation and Teamwork: KS3 Entrepreneurship Week, June 10th-14th 2024
At Haileybury Almaty, we are dedicated to fostering the development of essential life skills in our students, preparing them to thrive in an ever-evolving world. This year, we are thrilled to introduce a new initiative for our KS3 students – Entrepreneurship Week, from June 10th to 14th, 2024.
A Week of Interdisciplinary Learning and Skill Development
The KS3 Curriculum working group proposed an end-of-year interdisciplinary week where students can enhance skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and public speaking through project-based learning. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) has enthusiastically embraced this proposal, paving the way for an exciting week of activities.
Partnering with 8 Billion Ideas
To ensure a dynamic and impactful week, we have partnered with 8 Billion Ideas, a renowned organization specialising in entrepreneurial education. Their team will be on-site, providing resources and leading activities throughout the week. For more information about 8 Billion Ideas and their innovative approach, visit their website.
How Entrepreneurship Week Will Work
During Entrepreneurship Week, students will be off their regular timetable. Teachers will still need to be present to register students and assist as needed. The activities, designed and explained by the 8 Billion Ideas team, will allow Haileybury staff to support rather than lead, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for everyone.
A Glimpse into the Week’s Activities
Students will embark on three distinct projects designed to challenge and inspire them:
- Day 1: Take the Stage - Students will hone their oratory skills by creating and presenting a TED talk.
- Day 2: City Changes - Focused on sustainability, students will develop innovative solutions for urban challenges.
- Days 3-5: Start-Up School - A comprehensive journey into entrepreneurship, oracy, and public speaking, where students will create and pitch their business ideas.
Looking Ahead
We aim to build on the success of this year’s Entrepreneurship Week and plan to run similar events in the future, eventually managing them in-house.
We look forward to a week of innovation, creativity, and collaboration as our students take on the challenges of Entrepreneurship Week.
