On Sunday, 4th January, we proudly visited the Solnyshko House to deliver the heartfelt gifts donated by our incredible Haileybury community.
With the help of Senior School students and staff, we packed three vans filled with carefully chosen presents to brighten the lives of the elderly residents.
This year, our community provided essential gifts, including new mattresses for bedridden residents, a small refrigerator, walkers, and a wheelchair. These thoughtful contributions will greatly improve the comfort and mobility of the residents, reflecting the genuine care with which each item was selected.
As part of our cherished tradition, Junior School students created beautiful, personalised cards with messages of love and New Year wishes for every resident, young and old. A special thank you to Mrs. Pullen and the Art Department for leading this wonderful initiative year after year.
This meaningful project would not have been possible without the generous support of the Haileybury Parents’ Association, whose funds raised during the Winter Festival allowed us to prepare 80 individual gift bags. These bags were filled with goodies such as chocolates, teas, coffee, honey, and specialised clothing, along with an orthopedic mattress and essential medicines for the elderly. The children at Solnyshko House also received special boxes of chocolates, bringing smiles and joy to their faces.
The impact of these donations was evident in the tearful expressions of gratitude from the residents. One elderly woman shared, “Thank you to the school for caring and giving to old and lonely people who have no one else who cares about them.”
We are deeply moved and proud to be part of a community that makes such a positive difference. Your kindness has made this season brighter for so many, and the residents of Solnyshko House now eagerly anticipate this time of year because of your generosity and care.
Thank you, Haileybury family, for your continued support, and Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
Virginia and Gaukhar
