Haileybury Astana Hosts Successful 4th Annual HASTMUN Conference
Haileybury Astana recently concluded its highly anticipated 4th Annual HASTMUN Conference, held on April 13-14, with resounding success. The event, which took place in school, saw enthusiastic participation from students across Astana, showcasing their skills in public speaking, diplomacy, and critical thinking.
The Model United Nations (MUN) conference, a two-day educational simulation of a United Nations assembly, offered students a platform to represent different countries, advocate policies, and debate pressing global issues. Under the overarching theme of "Protecting the World’s Interests," participants engaged in lively discussions aimed at fostering awareness and understanding of contemporary challenges.
Haileybury Astana's commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders was evident throughout the event. Students aged 11-18, representing various schools in Astana, seized the opportunity to refine their collaboration skills and enhance their proficiency in English, the official language of the conference.
The official schedule for the HASTMUN 2024 Conference was meticulously planned to maximize engagement and interaction among participants. The event kicked off with a vibrant Opening Ceremony, followed by sessions dedicated to debate, working papers, and drafting resolutions. Day two featured presentations of resolutions and a closing ceremony, where outstanding contributions were recognized and celebrated.

These committees included the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Economic and Social Councils (ECOSOC 1 and ECOSOC 2), United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Delegates, guided by dedicated Under Secretary Generals, delved into discussions aimed at finding innovative solutions to complex issues.
