We are delighted to share the impressive achievements of Haileybury Astana students who excelled at the prestigious AIFC Court & IAC High Schools’ Mediation Competition, held in Astana.
This annual event brought together some of the brightest young minds from across the city, challenging them to apply critical thinking, communication, and conflict resolution skills in a simulated mediation setting. Bagashar Bikebay, a talented 15-year-old from Haileybury Astana, earned the esteemed title of Best Mediator for his exceptional performance, demonstrating both skill and composure throughout the competition. Fellow Haileybury student Naima Umiryayeva (15) achieved an impressive second place, showcasing her remarkable ability to communicate and negotiate effectively. Their outstanding contributions helped the Haileybury Astana team secure the Best Mediation Team award.
The competition’s fictitious case was set in a realistic context, involving a Kazakh entrepreneur and an investor navigating a dispute over profits in a retail arrangement. This scenario allowed students to step into the role of mediators, employing real-world strategies to reach amicable resolutions.
By participating in this competition, our students have demonstrated their grasp of essential mediation techniques—skills that are invaluable not only in professional settings but also in everyday life. The rigorous training and interactive format of the event provided them with a strong foundation in conflict resolution, fostering both personal growth and practical experience.
These accolades reflect Haileybury Astana’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to excel in an interconnected, global environment. We are immensely proud of our students' achievements and extend heartfelt congratulations to Bagashar, Naima, and the entire Haileybury Astana team for their remarkable accomplishments. Their success stands as a testament to the excellence in education and character development that Haileybury Astana embodies.
