Our Graduate Merey, Got Accepted to MIT with a Full Scholarship!
We are immensely proud to announce that Merey, our exceptional graduate, has been accepted to MIT to read Mathematics. Apart from this amazing offer, Merey has also been offered a full academic scholarship as MIT recognizes her ability! Merey’s journey is a remarkable testament to her unwavering dedication, hard work, and passion for Mathematics.
From a young age, Merey aspired to experience life abroad, which led her to participate in international Mathematic Olympiads. Years of rigorous training culminated in winning medals at distinguished competitions like the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad and the International Zhautykov Olympiad. These experiences connected her with inspiring students who joined top universities, fueling her determination to follow a similar path. Despite being waitlisted by MIT last year, Merey’s resilience drove her to reapply, resulting in her acceptance this year.
Merey’s enthusiasm for Mathematics was evident from primary school, where she excelled in solving problems and engaging in competitions with classmates. Recognizing her talent, her teachers guided her towards advanced Mathematics and Olympiads.
At Haileybury, the IB programme, along with the unwavering support from her teachers and university counselling service, played a pivotal role in her success. The IB programme broadened her academic horizons, allowing her to explore subjects beyond Mathematics, such as Physics, Economics, Art, and Literature. With the guidance of Haileybury teachers, Merey completed the IB programme with a graduation score of 42 out of 45.
Additionally, Merey’s involvement in research apprenticeship programmes and her volunteer work as a Mathematics Tutor for girls at STEM Sisters led her to co-found a support community for girls in STEM with her friends.
