Successful Internship at Columbia University

Last summer Aniya, our IB student did an internship at the Medicine and Research Summer Program at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons through the Global Health Organization (GHO) and the International Young Researchers’ Conference (IYRC).

The Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) dates back more than 250 years. The institution is one of the most research-intensive medical schools in the USA and is consistently ranked among the best medical schools.

This 7-week summer programme featured 148 students from Australia, Singapore, the UK and other 20 countries around the world. Students learned from physicians, researchers, and medical students at Columbia University VP&S about diverse topics of medicine: they learned how to take a patient history, interviewed standardized patients, engaged in ethical discussions, had conversations about narrative medicine, and studied various systems of human anatomy.

Currently, she is studying biology and chemistry in an IB programme, and planning to continue her study in the medical sphere.

Watch our video to find out more about her internship and her future plans. We wish her all the best and a successful entry into her desired university!
